The statue of liberty National monument officially celebrated her 100th brithday on october 28, 1986. The statue was completed in Francein july, 1884 and arrived in New york harbon in june of 1885. On October 28th 1886, the dedication of the statue of liberty took place in front of thousands of spectators.
The Statue of Liberty was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy.Now you can easily visit the Statue of Liberty National Monument and the Ellis Island Immigration Museum, both only a short ferry ride from Battery Park. Be sure not to miss the historic halls and galleries at Ellis Island, where more than 12 million immigrants first entered America.
